As humans we want to connect.
We want to reach out to others, share our lives, emotions and let them see who we are.

It may seem a little silly to say but one way that we build a better connected world is through selfies. We share little snapshots of our lives through these images.

So how do you take the best selfie to share with the world?

We’re here to help! Just grab a phone with a good camera like those from Huawei and follow these 7 great tips for taking your best selfies.

1.    Find your light. The lighting can make or break your photo; you don’t want to have shadows on your face or look washed out in super bright lights. The best time to shoot your selfie is during sunrise or sunset; the light is low and flattering. If you’re taking a selfie inside do it near a window to get some nice, soft natural light for your shot.

2.    Photographers say that lifting your phone camera up above your face at around a 45-degree angle is one of the most flattering angles. Bring your chin slightly down and the camera slightly up.

3.    Be careful with the shimmer and glitter. Selfies with flash can make shimmery makeup looking more like greasy skin on camera, so go easy on those products. A translucent setting power to absorb extra oil is always a good thing to have on hand for selfie-taking.

4.    Crop until you’re happy. Does your face look amazing, but your body looks a little off? Crop it! Zoom in to the best part of the photo; cropping can make an okay photo amazing.

5.    Experiment with your angles. People often don’t know what angle works best for them in photos. Well, go selfie crazy to find out. Take several shots in different poses to find out what works for you. Once you figure it out it’ll be a breeze to take the perfect selfie every time.

6.    Be yourself and have fun with your selfies, you don’t need to look perfect every time. Sometimes an ‘imperfect’ selfie is the most interesting.

7.    Remember that you’re already beautiful; confidence is the most important element for any great selfie.
